Will Hiking Trails be open after Vernazza & Monterosso flood 2011?

Will the famous Cinque Terre hiking trails be open in 2012 after the tragic flash flood that hit Vernazza and Monterosso on October 25th 2011? Will they all be recovered when the tourist season will start?
This is most common question we receive these days from all hiking lovers planning at this stage a holiday in the Cinque Terre National Park.

For this reason we passed the question to Mr. Tonelli,  member of C.A.I. La Spezia, the Italian volunteers association that preserves hiking trails and promotes hiking activities on all the Italian territory.

He said that even though many trails have been damades by landslaides and floods, there are still lots of safe paths; our hiking area is vast and offers several opportunities to our visitors, so, when the tourist season will open in Springtime, they won’t be disappointed.

So, most of the net of Cinque Terre National Park Hiking Trails will be open in 2012!

Just always be careful when going for a hiking trail; wear comfortable shoes and garments, study the trail in advance and get a guide expert of the territories you want to visit! These paths, even though not extremely difficult, may be tricky and dangerous even to expert hikers! Do not risk you holidays and choose to be accompanied by the expert advice of CAI guides! You will have fun and will enjoy any single moment of your tour!
