Monica of Restaurant Al Castello asks help for Vernazza

Who went to Vernazza for sure had the chance to meet Monica and Delfina and stay at their famous Restaurant Al Castello, right under the medieval tower.

The view from there is so beautiful, breathtaking and her food and kind manners were the right crown to a setting that would make you feel in paradise when staying there.

Even on the dramatic hours of the flood day Monica and her mother Delfina were a reference point for many villagers and inhabitants who found safe shelter on the terrace of Al Castello.

All the astonished refugees could see from there an enraged Nature brutally taking with Her people and things down towards the sea and covering with mud and debris Via Roma, the life for Vernazza and its inhabitants and lovers.

Via Roma, that famous main street, that people coming from everywhere proudly walked on, conscious of being part of one of the Wonders of the World!

Monica, Al castello Staff and Cinque Terre Riviera received so many emails from those who had spent memorable holidays here and asked “Is there a way to help?”. So, here details of Fund “Per Vernazza Futura” (for Vernazza to be) created by Mayor and Town Hall Office for making a donation.

Now that this Wonder is temporarily hidden under mud and that many lives have been spent to save what they could (lets’ think to poor Sauro, Pino, Caterina), Monica, Delfina and all the Staff of Al Castello plus all the staff of Cinque Terre Riviera  ask help to all Cinque Terre and Vernazza lovers to make a contribution to help local people to rebuild their village and their lives so to be ready, by Spring time, to offer the world again a fantastic and amazing village to all travelers.

And, most of all, they ask people not to abandon this lovely village  when the tourist season will be open. They really hope that many will come to see visit it next Spring and Summer, maybe with more difficulties, if railway and boat will be the only way to reach it, but with the same and even greater enthusiasm they always showed for this tiny village.

The money collected will be spent right here to help those who have lost their businesses, their homes, and right now are struggling to get by, and to help with the cleaning and reconstruction of the village .
