Cinque Terre Lovers

What is Monesteroli? it is a nowhere…an hidden pearl along Cinque Terre coastline, just sea, rocks and plants.

It can only be reached by the sea or from the coastal road, taking hard, but scenic, hiking trails.

The Cinque Terre Coastline

Let’s follow Luca Natale, once comunication manager of Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre, take the Italian TV showman Patrizio Roversi to the discovery of this unique place on earth, where his grandfather had a farmer shack and canteen!

Monesteroli by Velisti per Caso

No gas or electricity supply for the Robinson Crusoe inhabitants of this Eden on earth. Two small solar panels provide energy for just the essential. Then, it’s life.

The sea it’s life. Monesteroli sea is life, a sea that can only be reached going down a perilous, hazardous trail…that has to be walked back for reaching home after a plunge into the clear waters ot the Mediterranean sea.

But these people seem not to feel the effort!

This is life for them, there’s no other way of living. Only Monesteroli Life!

Only the most corageus hikers are invited here…

A newly added exclusive property to Cinque Terre Riviera portfolio. On a magic, sunny Janauary morning we did our survey of this incredibly beautiful villa in Portovenere. The owner decided to open its door to us and our guests this year and we now present it to the world.

Villa Argia, a family mansion with 2 annex and amazing swimming pool, 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms and vast garden area plus fanyastic sea view. It’s just steps from beaches and promenade, right in Portovenre village, along its beautiful promenade.

The historical villa keeps its ancient charm even though offers modern comforts and an incredible sea water pool right a few steps from the crystal clear waters of the Poets’ Gulf.

This elegant villa can be a fantastic venue for couples who want to have a distiguished party on the Mediterranean shores of Portovenere.

Welcome to Portovenere…the sign says…

and it is really a nice welcome the one we get when we reach the colourful “Palazzata”, the line of famous, lined, coloured tower houses, symbol of the village.

I decided to introduce readers to this fishermen Ligurian village starting exactly from the most distinctive trait of the place: its bright colours and shades, a universe of hues and lights, that feed our minds and our hearts with forgotten feelings and sensations. Follow me as “one morning” companion…

La Palazzata – some of these properties are now for rental

Stazione di Monterosso…Monterosso al Mare train station…shooting in black & white makes me feel like we’re still in the 60s and time did not pass over these shores.

When I was a child I remember that for my family, as for many other living in La Spezia, it was very common to spend a Sunday afternoon in Monterosso. We used to reach the village by train since getting here by car would have been too long, tiring and risky: quite and adventure on all those turns and bends with a small FIAT 600.

Levanto, such a beautiful village either in Summer or in Winter. Bathers paradise in the hot season and fantastic surfing destination for the waves lovers even in the colder (always mild) season! Levanto became in recent times one of the most wanted surfing destination in northern Italy .

This old fishing village with its sheltered, deep-water bay  produces some of the biggest waves in continental Italy and is surfable when everywhere else (but Lerici) is blown-out.

Its wide bay allows you to create surfable waves mostly when Jugo and Mistral blow, but, sometimes, it is ossible surfing the waves even with strong Scirocco winds.

Buon Anno (Happy New Year) wrote these Monterosso boys and girls on the beach and, to exorcize the recent flood and its damages, they wrote their wishes to the world on the beach using the sand bags given from Protezione Civile as barrier to incoming waters…Buon Anno a Tutti Voi!

Buon Anno to all the people who struggled and dedicated every single moment of their recent life to help, clean, work in Monterosso and Vernazza and bring lttle by little these villages to life again. Read the rest of this entry »

From our last Farm In Town in La Spezia on November 27th the very best of food for our tables.

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet again our producers all gathered in our market square. Their produce, anyway, is not hard to be found when in La Spezia. They are usually sold on the stalls of this lively market everyday from Monday to Saturday and bought by La Spezia families and many restaurant owners that are proud to serve local, 0 km food on their tables.

All those who have the chance to visit La Spezia or Cinque Terre and Poet’s Gulf area cannot miss the chance to visit our lively fantastic food market right in the heart of our town. Only there one can find fantastic black cabbage, to be served just fresh, finely cut and added to your salad or cooked and served in thousand, fantastic recipes.
